Project Details
An outline Planning Application for this Master Plan for the redevelopment of Cambridge United Football Club’s Abbey Stadium in central Cambridge. A phased development to create a new public square, new and refurbished stands and corporate and club supporter facilities.
New housing and student accommodation was also incorporated as well as new office, retail and community spaces around the new public square. BCR were fully involved with all the public consultations, presentations, City Council Design Panel presentations and wider Design Team and client meetings and workshops. The project was put on hold following the unsuccessful development by the same client by another architect, on land partially within the Cambridge greenbelt. Both developments were intrinsically linked.
